Switzerland has a different power plug from all the rest of Europe - rather annoying. Anyway we went looking for the right bit so Pete could charge his shaver, but apart from buying all that we already have to get the small bit we need, we had no success. Maybe he can go bearded again instead! We're thinking Markus may have a connector - we'll see him tomorrow.
We had trained into the City to have another look around the old area, and were quite amazed at the number of churches - big ones too, but their notice boards seemed to suggest they were mostly used for musical events and concerts. Very sad. We went into St Peter's Church and were struck again by the simplicity of it. There weren't even any stained glass windows in this one, but it boasted the biggest clock in the tower.
Dad accidentally changed the white setting on his camera, and this 'mistake' resulted in a striking image of the Grossmünster:
There are little cobbled alley ways allowing access but the buildings are all very close, and many are very 'Swiss.' I think the pretty shutters on the windows as well as the curved rooflines give it the Swiss flavour.
We ambled down to the dock to have our sandwich lunch where we watched the ferries coming and going. We realised we had not yet been on a tram! So to rectify that we took a tram to where we could get a train to go and visit a wildlife park. All of the transport we've been on has been quiet, comfortable, on time, and has announcements as well as electronic screens telling you where you are and what's coming next. Very helpful for ignorant foreigners who don't speak the lingo!
Well, the fun started when we started walking from the station to the wildlife place. We couldn't find it! I reckon we must be up to 100km by now, and many of those have been UP! Anyway, we eventually found a man coming out of a bushy place and he directed us in there. It turned out to be a trail in part of the park's grounds which was certainly very nice but it was nowhere near where the animals were. So we just kept walking... and walking!
And then Pete spotted some antlers in a creek. Thinking the poor beast had been beheaded he was relieved to see it rise up out of the water.
We then came across more deer, some brown bears, wolves, and a marmot. An ice cream was a pretty good discovery too.
They're kissing, not fighting!
We also discovered we were a long way from the train so off we toddled again having made the brilliant decision to get the train to the end of the line, then a bus to the lake and a ferry home. When everyone except us got off the train at the stop before the last one we did wonder why. We found out, when we got to the little place in the middle of the mountains, that the bus only goes on Wednesdays! And there's only one train per hour! The time didn't drag too much, especially as Dad put 4 Francs into a machine and out popped some M'n'M's...had to be worth the trauma!
And despite all that, we left at 4.45 pm on the next train, got off and got a tram to our train-line and then another train and were home under an hour later. We've seen quite a bit of the area around Zurich anyway.

Walking must be better than 'draaaving'. Looks a great adventure.
