16 Sept Glasgow

Oh dear...not a very good night. Dad didn't sleep and I had a tummy upset. Anyway, we had a quiet day which was really nice. Peter M was up early to see the car onto the tow truck - it seems the gear box has to be removed to fix the failed clutch slave cylinder. Anyway, Morrisons are hopeful of having it fixed by Wednesday so that they can go on their hols to the south of France as planned.

We went for a walk around Kilmardinny Loch which is just near Morrison's home and guess what we found!

Julia Donaldson, the author of 'The Gruffalo,' lives here in Bearsden!

There are several chainsaw carvings of logs having been made into seats by a very clever sculptor. (See his amazing sculpture of an umbrellaed Aussie tourist.)

It was lovely to meet Marion's brother and his wife, (The Rev.) Ian and Marilyn McDonald - they are at Cumbernauld where Dad actually preached when we were here in 2005, although we think they were away at the time. We may even see them in Canberra as they have plans to visit in Feb. after retiring.

Soon after 5 pm we drove for 20 mins or so, through the tunnel under the Clyde, to a massive Mall where we found a lovely Italian restaurant and enjoyed a 'super' supper. The waitress was incomprehensible to me but thankfully Marion had no trouble understanding the foreign language they tend to speak here. After dinner we visited the Arctic Circle - it was just around the corner from the restaurant!
(That's real snow...)

It sure was cold in there!
