Tuesday in Vancouver

(Dad) ..Writing at 8pm, the day already seems fuzzy... I kept on nodding off to sleep if I was sitting. Our friends looked after us very kindly, sending us to bed for an hour before a lovely lunch, then a trip to Crescent Beach. North and south we could see craggy mountains as we walked along the seafront.
(Mum). Wow...it is actually Summer here - people in swimmers, picnics, games, and 27 degrees. It's hard to get your head around the fact that we are in another part of the world and it's not Winter!! The high mountains are visible - Mt. Baker is over 4000m and we can see snow on it, and some others in the distance, as well as a glacier.
Ted and Kwee have lovely plans for our few days here - tomorrow it is up Grouse Mt and the grizzly bears...I hope we can get a photo for you Harry. We walked around a bush track this arvo where there are huge Hemlock trees growing: they are like pines. The variety of pines is amazing- so pretty! Real Christmas Trees. Also the gardens are a picture with all the Summer flowers in bloom. Houses look different - very nice, and they have this habit of always driving on the wrong side of the road! (Dad: not the houses, the cars... Yes, we are tired!)
The jet lag thing is pretty difficult so we are very thankful to be able to try and sleep the clock around now after missing one and a half night's sleep.
